Christmas in April
There is a fundi working on the house. He is wearing a Father Christmas hat. He has worn it every day since work began. Red and white. Though the white a little grubby now.
It’s not the fact that it’s April that bothers me; it’s not the fact his attire is about eight months too early.
It’s because it’s too damn hot for wooly hats.

ann: it is where i am: too hot. except for broad brimmed sunhat to keep skin off peaches and cream complexion which mine isn’t cos too often i forgot bloody hat.
i’ll try Roberta. but doubtless he’ll either think i’m stealing his soul or he’ll charge me!

I’m always amazed when you see the totos wrapped up in a thousand layers when it’s 35 degrees outside. How do they cope?

nuttycow: my dear departed motherinlaw used to say that africans and turks (she lived in turkey for a time) bundled their babies up in the heat so that people who never be in any doubt as to what extensive wardrobes they could afford for their offspring.
PM: perhaps i need to take some tips from him then? in the accessories, shoes, bags, hats and gloves department? my smart friends despair of me. but at least now i’m so far away, they don’t have to witness my wardrobe failings too often!
